The Pancake or Saucer

"Vienne Velour" or "Fur Felted"

A beautiful 1950's pancake hat, all brim and no crown to speak of, and it fits with a short brim and the back and a wider brim on the sides and front. The perfect accessory for a 1950's New Look, summer wiggle dress, this hat is designed to keep the sun off your delicate skin while framing your face in the most flattering and stylish manner.

Miss Peggy's 1950s Natural Straw Pancake/Saucer in Black

Rhinestones on Satin Trim Purchased from Kervin's in Columbus Georgia.

"I wore this for Easter 1956. When we moved to Germany, I left it with Granny, as I didn't want it to get ruined. As far as I know this is the first time I've seen it since".

Miss Myldred's 1950s Tan Silk Vienna Velour Fur Felted Fedora

This hat is Silk Vienne Velour "Merri Soie"  The feathers came from another hat that had to be reworked by Ms Mattie Dean due to an altercation with a little dog.

Miss Myldred's 1950s Green Fur Felted with Pheasant Feathers and Velvet Ribbon

Purchased at Lazarus in Montgomery. Size 22.

I have to come clean with the story. When Granny originally bought the hat, the entire crown was covered in  feathers.  Alas, the dog attacked the hat one afternoon, so Ms Dean reworked the feathers in this hat, and added the few that were recovered to the Tan Silk Fedora to the left.
